How are you alerted? Selecting the right Alert Address

How are you alerted?

24 hours a day, 7 days a week, KnightGuard.Net monitors your site. If all goes well, you'll never get an alert.

But if KnightGuard.Net detects a problem, we need to get in touch right away. In the case your site is down or responding too slow, we'll knotify you two ways:

By E-mail to your Registered E-Mail Address
Your registered e-mail address (also your UserID) will receive a note describing the problem, along with some helpful tips on determining the severity. It will also contain reference materials to link you back to specific locations of this site which may help in troubleshooting. You set your Registered E-Mail Address when you signup for KnightGuard.s service.

By Paging your E-Mail enabled pager or cellphone
Alerts to your pager or cellphone are made by e-mail. Since some text paging services limit the length of messages, these alerts are very short - just enough to let you know there's a problem. Pager alerts can be placed on a schedule (so you are not notified at certain times of the day) or set to snooze automatically to reduce the number of alerts during extended problems. You set your Paging Address at the time you setup your URL to be monitored.

Important Notes
If available, you should use a paging address that is not associated with your Web Site. The reason for this is if your paging address is at your Web Site and the same server handles your mail, when you're site's down your mail is probably not coming in either. There is a good chance you will receive notification only after your Web Site comes back up, and by then it's too late.

If you select an e-mail address who's mail is not delivered through your Web Site, you will stand a better chance of receiving alerts when your site is in trouble.

Paging alerts will appear to be e-mailed from your registered subscriber e-mail address rather than from KnightGuard.net directly. Thus, in the event one such alert cannot be delivered, it should be returned to the Subscriber's registered e-mail address for proper action.

Phone / Numeric Paging
If you require alerts by numeric pager or by telephone, there are e-mail to phone services available. One such service is Imbot.com. For a nominal fee, they offer web-enabled messaging to any phone.
